ABOUT DON KANFER
 

Don Kanfer is a long-time resident of DeLand who has lived and worked in Volusia County since 1986. A semi-retired veterinarian, Don has spent decades serving the community and understanding the real challenges facing local families.
 

He is married to Connie Erickson and has lived in the same home since 2005. Don has been an active member of Rotary, serving both as a club president and a district governor. He also served as a supervisor for the Volusia Soil and Water Conservation District.
 

Outside of work and public service, Don enjoys riding motorcycles, metal detecting, and spending time in the community.
 

WHY HE’S RUNNING
 

Don is not a career politician.
 

He is running because he believes the current system is no longer representing the people it was designed to serve. Instead of protecting the interests of citizens, too many elected officials are pursuing agendas that do not reflect the needs of their communities.
 

He asks a simple question:
 

Are you satisfied with your current representation?
 

Don’s answer is no—and that is why he decided to step forward.
 

He believes it is not enough to complain. At some point, someone has to take responsibility and act.
 

WHAT HE BELIEVES
 

Don believes government should return to its original purpose:

• Represent the people

• Protect individual rights and property

• Operate efficiently and responsibly

• Stay accountable to the citizens it serves
   

He is focused on addressing the real issues affecting everyday residents, including rising costs, rapid growth, and increasing pressure on local infrastructure and resources.
 

HIS APPROACH
 

Don brings a practical, community-first perspective:

• He believes decisions should be made as close to the community as possible
   

He is not entering politics to build a career—he is stepping in to help correct the direction.
